Our Activities

The Edmond Yu Inquest - new recommendations regarding police training and non-medical research and alternatives.

Victory at the Supreme Court of Canada - new directions for Review Boards in cases involving psychiatric inmates found "not criminally responsible".

Toronto Conference on Alternativces to Police Use of Lethal Force (with the Urban Alliance on Race Relations).

Conferences on Alternatives, Advocacy, Legal Rights and Housing for consumers and survivors.

Demonstrations, focus groups and deputations to government for increasing patient rights (in the areas of electroshock, restraints and isolation, commital criteria and community treatment orders).

Increased public awareness campaigns through Toronto newspapers and weekly's, CBC and other television and radio stations, in documentaries and website linkages.

Individual advocacy for patients at Queen Street Mental Health Centre (including abuse, medication and confinement issues). Also systemic issues at Queen Street (financial, physical plant, nutrition, etc.).

Weekly and Seasonal activities for patients, including videos, arts and crafts, parties in the Mall and Coffee Hour.

Publishing of Psycho Magazine.
